Brokeness

When all is said and done,
loneliness enters my being.
Looking for murky fun,
uncovering the part
that dreads the bright sun.

A shallow dark hole
sinks into my beating heart
and divides my soul.
It pushes and pulls it apart.

Soothing disturbance
a mere excuse for failing.
Blackness, my binding,
obscuring all hope of being free.

A faint flicker of a flame,
draws a counterpoint
calling me to crawl out
from under the weight of hopelessness
to another place undone.
